The birth of a baby is often imagined as a joyful moment, but for many parents, it can be distressing, overwhelming, or even traumatic. If you’re finding it hard to move past a difficult birth experience, you’re not alone.

​

Perhaps you’re experiencing painful memories of pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding that won’t fade. Maybe you’re a partner or health professional who witnessed a traumatic birth and are struggling with feelings of helplessness or distress.

 

These emotions are valid, but you don’t have to carry them forever.

Is TBR 3-Step Rewind Right for You?

​

TBR 3-Step Rewind is a gentle yet effective approach designed to help anyone** experiencing emotional or psychological symptoms related to challenging events, such as:

​

  • Severe morning sickness – leaving emotional scars even after pregnancy

  • A traumatic or distressing birth experience – whether unexpected or overwhelming

  • A baby needing care in the NICU – coping with separation and worry

  • Breastfeeding difficulties – feelings of frustration, guilt, or sadness

​​

The effects of birth-related trauma can vary widely, showing up as flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, guilt, anger, sadness, low mood, or difficulties bonding with your baby or partner.

​

** If you have been diagnosed with a mental health condition other than anxiety or depression, this therapy is not suitable for you.

TBR 3-Step Rewind is tailored to your unique experience. Together, we’ll explore how these events have affected you and gently work towards releasing their emotional hold. I’ll then help you reframe painful memories, allowing you to envision a future where they no longer trigger anxiety or distress.

 

Common Concerns

 

Will I have to relive my experience in detail?

No. TBR 3-Step Rewind does not require you to go over your experience repeatedly. Instead, it helps to shift the emotional response linked to your memories. 

 

What if my experience feels too small or insignificant?

If it still affects you, it matters. Everyone processes difficult experiences differently, and you deserve support.

 

How quickly will I notice a difference?

Many people feel a shift within just a few sessions, experiencing a newfound sense of calm, clarity, and relief.

Step 1. Preparation

​

Our first session is a gentle introduction, allowing you to share your experience if you feel comfortable, though there’s no pressure to do so. This can help in understanding how past memories still affect you. Together, we’ll explore how you’d like to feel moving forward and begin reimagining life without the weight of these emotions. To close, I’ll guide you through a deeply relaxing exercise to calm your mind and body, and you’ll receive a personalised recording to continue practising at home.


Duration: Approximately 60-90 Minutes

Step 2. Rewind

 

About a week later, we meet again to build on your progress.

I’ll guide you into a deeply relaxed state, creating a sense of safety and calm. From there, I’ll lead you through a visualisation designed to “rewind” your memory of the event, helping to detach it from distressing emotions. This allows you to process the experience with greater ease and comfort.

In this relaxed state, you’ll have the opportunity to shift your perspective, making it easier to move forward. You’ll also begin visualising yourself handling similar situations with confidence and resilience.

Duration: Approximately 60-90 Minutes​​

Step 3: Review

​

10 to 14 days later, we’ll meet for a final session to reflect on the insights and transformations you’ve experienced. I will also guide you through a relaxation exercise which you can continue to use at home with a personalised recording. 

​This step ensures the process feels complete and helps you move forward in life feeling lighter, more positive and with a greater sense of calm.

Flexible and Accessible Support

I offer sessions via Zoom, making it easy to access support wherever you are.

 

To ensure you get the most from our time together, you will need: 

  • A quiet, undisturbed space

  • A comfortable spot to relax, such as a sofa, bed, or armchair

  • A child-free environment during sessions

​

Your well-being is my priority, let’s create a space where you can focus, unwind, and get the support you need.​​

The Science Bit ... If You Want to Know

​

The TBR Three-Step Rewind Technique is a gentle yet effective way to help people break free from trauma, including birth trauma, and even overcome phobias.

​

Our brains are naturally wired to keep us calm, only activating the fight-or-flight response in moments of danger. Normally, once the threat has passed, this response switches off. However, after trauma, the brain can get stuck in emergency mode, keeping you on high alert even when no real danger is present—like a smoke alarm that keeps sounding long after the fire is out.

​

The Rewind Technique helps reset this alarm, allowing your thinking brain to reassure your emotional brain that the danger has passed. The memory remains, but the distress fades, so you can process past experiences with greater ease and move forward with a renewed sense of calm and control.

How It Works

 

Step 1 Get in Touch: Send me an email expressing your interest in TBR Three-Step Rewind.

 

Step 2: I will reply with some session paperwork and a booking link where you can make your appointment.

 

Step 3:  We schedule your 3 appointments at the time of booking and you receive the Zoom links for logging in. ​
